Study of a Fight
Two lovers are asked to repeat an argument over and over. Will revisiting the same words reveal a new meaning?
A couple - both professional actors - explore some of their own conflicts through a scripted scene. In the scene they fight over a trivial issue, but like in any argument there is an underlying and constant negotiation of their potential future together. How they act and react in the fight could either bring them closer together or create a larger gap between them.
Couples often have the same arguments over and over. By exploring the argument as a scene, the actors are allowed to revisit the same words repeatedly, while changing the intention, mood and level of aggression or feeling of love. In between the fighting, a space is created for the couple to reflect on their own conflicts and ways of arguing, without being in the heated emotions of an actual fight.
Based on the director’s own hard-lived experiences with relationships, this film is a study of a man and a woman in a verbal fight, that asks the question of whether a fight is only destructive, or a space for ventilation that could lead to a new understanding. The film hopes to give some understanding of what a fight consists of, and how to break patterns and see the conflict in a more honest way.
